Highly purified nonionic fraction of agar. Forms gel with superior mechanical qualities at very low concentrations (gelling temperature: 40-43°C). Can be mounted on microscope slides or transparent plastic. When dried, films are elastic and durable and show little or no deterioration on staining with either protein or lipoprotein dyes.
