Connexins and Pannexins

Connexins and Pannexins are two different types of gap junction proteins that are involved in the regulation of intercellular communication. Gap junctions are specialized channels that allow for the direct exchange of ions and small molecules between adjacent cells, which is important for the coordination of cellular activities and the maintenance of tissue homeostasis.
