Hepatocyte nuclear factor-4 receptors

Hepatocyte nuclear factor-4 receptors (HNF-4s) are a group of nuclear receptor proteins that function as transcription factors and play important roles in the regulation of various physiological processes, including glucose and lipid metabolism, development, and differentiation of the liver, kidney, pancreas, and intestine. There are two types of HNF-4s: HNF-4-alpha and HNF-4-gamma, encoded by the HNF4A and HNF4G genes, respectively.
