Reticulons are a family of proteins that are involved in the shaping and maintenance of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), an organelle that is responsible for protein synthesis, lipid metabolism, and calcium storage. They are characterized by the presence of a conserved reticulon homology domain (RHD), which is involved in membrane curvature and tubulation.
