Jumonji containing proteins

"Jumonji-containing proteins," often referred to as JmjC proteins or JmjC domain-containing proteins, are a family of enzymes that play a critical role in chromatin modification and gene regulation. The name "Jumonji" originates from a Japanese word meaning "crisscross pattern," which describes the appearance of mutant fruit fly larvae due to a mutation in a gene encoding one of these proteins.
