There are various domains on the connector protein that can bind with other proteins and form various signal complexes. These proteins often lack the activity of enzymes themselves, but activate the downstream signal pathway by forming protein complexes through specific protein-protein interactions. Common splice proteins include MyD88, Grb2 and SHC1.
