Principle
After the blood is completely coagulated, due to the role of thromboconstrictor proteins released by platelets, the fibrin network shrinks and serum is precipitated. And clot retraction, this phenomenon is important for hemostasis after microthrombosis trauma, how the clot retraction situation. It mainly depends on the quantity and quality of platelets, fibrinogen concentration, factor VII level, erythrocyte ratio. The level of factor VII, the specific volume of erythrocytes and the temperature of the experiment also have some influence.

1-2 ml of blood was collected from the vein and injected into a test tube with an inner diameter of 8 mm or following the determination of clotting time, the test tube was plugged and placed in an incubator at 37°C for observation at 1 hour, 18 hours and 24 hours, respectively.
The results were observed:
1、Clots completely retreated: clots contracted completely, formed hard lumps, detached from the wall of the tube. Sink to the bottom of the tube to precipitate a large amount of serum, its volume is equal to 1/3 to 1/2 of the original amount of blood taken.
2, partial contraction of blood clots: blood clots have obvious contraction, but part of the wall is still attached to the tube is not completely contracted, the blood is also fast knot is not hard.
3, poor contraction of blood clots, blood clots slightly contracted, a very small amount of serum can be seen deposited in the bottom of the tube or the edge of the blood clots.
4, the blood is not contracted, the clot adheres to the wall of the tube, there is no serum precipitation.
Normal value: 1 hour after the beginning of partial contraction, 18 hours after the obvious contraction, 24 hours has been completely contracted.
