An anionic iridium complex, [Cp*Ir(2,2'-bpyO)(OH)][Na], serves as a versatile and highly effective catalyst for the transfer hydrogenation of ketones and imines using methanol as the hydrogen source under base-free conditions. The reaction demonstrates excellent tolerance to nitro, cyano, and ester functional groups.

An anionic iridium complex [Cp*Ir(2,2'-bpyO)(OH)][Na] is a general and highly efficient catalyst for transfer hydrogenation of ketones and imines with methanol as hydrogen source under base-free conditions. Nitro, cyano, and ester groups were tolerated under the reaction conditions.

Additionally, an air- and moisture-stable manganese pincer complex efficiently catalyzes the semireduction of a wide range of alkynes, yielding the corresponding (Z)-olefins in high yields. This reaction is both stereo- and chemoselective and can be readily scaled up.
