Choline peroxydisulfate (ChPS)

Product Manager:Nick Wilde

Choline peroxydisulfate (ChPS) is an environmentally friendly and biodegradable ionic liquid that can be produced through a synthesis process involving choline chloride and potassium peroxydisulfate in acetone at room temperature over a period of 24 hours. This unique ionic liquid boasts versatility, thermal stability, and non-volatility, making it an ideal choice for use in mild oxidation reactions.

Recent Literature

An environmentally benign and biodegradable oxidizing task-specific ionic liquid (TSIL) known as choline peroxydisulfate (ChPS) has been successfully synthesized and characterized. This reagent exhibits exceptional properties, enabling the selective oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes/ketones with high yields and in a short reaction time. Importantly, it achieves this under solvent-free and mild reaction conditions, eliminating the risk of overoxidation to acids.
