Product Description

FITC-DEAE-Polysucrose is designed for special studies on membrane and transport properties in cells and tissues. FITC-DEAE-polysucroses are standard FITC-polysucroses carrying cationic (positively charged) diethylaminoethyl groups. All batches are checked for molecular weight, degree of substitution, loss on drying and free FITC. Aladdin produce FITC-DEAE-polysucrose with the molecular weight of either70 kDa or 400 kDa. FITC-DEAE-polysucrose is supplied as a yellow powder.Polysucrose are renamed from Ficoll™.

Structure

Polysucrose is a high molecular weight sucrose-polymers formed by copolymerisation of sucrose with epichlorohydrin. The molecules are highly branched, and the high content of hydroxyl groups leads to very good solubility in aqueous media. In FITC-DEAE-polysucrose, the content is approximately 5% which is equivalent to about one DEAE-group for every five glucose units. Fluorescein (FITC) groups are introduced by reaction with fluorescein isothiocyanate.

Spectral data

Excitation maximum is 493 nm and emission maximum is 523 nm in pH 9.

Application

FITC-DEAE-polysucrose is normally used for studying the permeability of polycationic polymers relative to neutral polymers in organs, tissues and cells. Polysucrose behaves as an ideal neutral sphere.
