Product Description

Lipopolysaccharide,|E. coli|O55:B5 is a component of the cell wall of the O55:B5 serotype of the Gram-negative bacteria,|Escherichia coli|. Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) are made up of a hydrophobic lipid, a hydrophilic core polysaccharide chain and a hydrophilic O-antigenic polysaccharide side chain. LPS molecules contribute to the outer integrity of the cell membrane, protect the cell against bile salts and lipophilic antibiotics, and act as endotoxins in animals. LPS induces a strong immune response by binding to the CD14/TLR4/MD2 receptor complex, which promotes the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines. LPS is also an exogenous pyrogen. LPS O55:B5 has been derived from a serotype of|E. coli|O55:B5, which is part of a subdivision based on the O antigen component of LPS. Lipopolysaccharide, E. coli O55:B5 is a form of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) extracted from wild-type S-form E. coli serotype O55:B5. Lipopolysaccharide, E. coli O55:B5 is commonly used to activate toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) on leukocytes, eliciting inflammatory signaling in isolated cells and in vivo.1,2,3,4 Lipopolysaccharide, E. coli O55:B5 includes three regions, the O-antigenic polysaccharide chain, the core oligosaccharide, and lipid A. Lipopolysaccharide, E. coli O55:B5 stimulates the activity of inducible nitric oxide synthase. Lipopolysaccharide, E. coli O55:B5 induces apoptosis in mouse thymus and swine lymphocytes. Lipopolysaccharide, E. coli O55:B5 is also known as LPS. Lipopolysaccharide, E. coli O55:B5is a component of the cell wall of Gram-negative bacteria and Specific activator of Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4.

Usage:

The product is soluble in water (5 mg/ml) or cell culture medium (1 mg/ml) yielding a hazy, faint yellow solution. A more concentrated, though still hazy, solution (20 mg/ml) has been achieved in aqueous saline after vortexing and warming to 70-80 oC. Lipopolysaccharides are molecules that form micelles in every solvent. Hazy solutions are observed in water and phosphate buffered saline. Organic solvents do not give clearer solutions. Methanol yields a turbid suspension with floaters, while water yields a homogeneously hazy solution.
