Aladdin's Monomeric Streptavidin is recombinantly expressed and purified from E. coli. It can be used to detect biotin-labeled antibodies, nucleic acids, proteins, glycans, and lipids, etc. It is suitable for live cell surface labeling, cell imaging, in vivo proximity biotinylation, conjugation with labels (e.g., Horseradish Peroxide), flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and antibody purification.The monomeric streptavidin has a molecular weight of 15KDa. In comparison to the natural recombinant streptavidin tetramer (55KDa), it has comparable biotin-binding capability, but exhibits better binding efficiency with biotin-labeled molecules, because it is more effective in avoiding steric hindrance due to its smaller size and also prevents aggregation or precipitation caused by cross-linking effects associated with the tetrameric streptavidin.
