Note | Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day. However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20°C. Generally, these will be useable for up to one month. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour. Product Description | Safranin T is a biological stain commonly used as a counter stain for gram-negative bacteria in the Gram stain procedure. Safranin T has been observed to bind to DNA at a pH 2.21. In the Flemming triple stain procedure Safranin T is used to stain for chromosomes. In late Palaeozoic pteridosperm cuticles Safranin T has shown increased contrast, emphasized cutinization differences, and enhanced the three-dimensional morphology of complex epidermal features when compared with other dyes. The compound has also been used with alcian blue in the histochemical study of the distribution and morphometric characteristics of mast cells. Safranin T has also been used to detect mucin and cartilage. |
