Product Description

Sn(IV) Mesoporphyrin IX dichloride is a porphyrin derivative that is used in the study of heme degradation. Sn(IV) Mesoporphyrin IX dichloride is a competitive and potent inhibitor of heme oxygenase, known as HO. Sn(IV) Mesoporphyrin IX dichloride inhibits hepatic, renal, and splenic HO activity. In vivo, Sn(IV) Mesoporphyrin IX dichloride was observed to block bilirubin production, thus decreasing heme oxygenase activity in test models of hyperbilirubinemia. In addition to HO, HO-1 expression may be studied with the aid of Sn(IV) Mesoporphyrin IX dichloride to explore its physiological roles.
