a useful biochemical for plant research. Zeatin and it's derivatives are part of the plant-growth hormones called cytokinins. It promotes growth of lateral buds in meristems which produces bushier plants. The affinity of trans-zeatin for AHK3 (Arabidopsis histidine kinase 3), which is important in mediating plant development, has been reported to be 1.3 nM.
