General Description

Vitamin D 3 is also known as cholecalciferol which promotes the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the body that regulates bone growth. It is commonly found in humans and animals produced on our skin when exposed to sunlight. It facilitates bone growth and mineralization indirectly by enhancing plasma calcium and phosphorus levels. It is synthesized from 7-dehydrocholesterol, a derivative of cholesterol.

Application

Vitamin D 3 is used as an internal analytical standard for the quantitation of vitamin D 3 concentration in dietary supplements, fortified foods or within a complex biological matrix using a variety of testing applications. The active metabolite of vitamin D 3 is calcitriol (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D 3 ) encapsulated into polymeric nanoparticles, which finds the application in vitamin D 3 -based chemotherapy formulation study and in vitro evaluation.
