Biochemical and Physiological MechanismsA potent, cell-permeable, and irreversible inhibitor of caspase-3. Also inhibits caspase-6, caspase-7, caspase-8, and caspase-10. Once in the cell, endogenous esterase activity hydrolyzes the methyl groups to form the biologically active form.
